Private & on-premise AI
A private AI assistant that runs inside your office.
We set up local AI on your own hardware: a ChatGPT-style assistant your whole team can use, where nothing typed or uploaded ever leaves your network.

In short
What is a local AI setup?
A local AI setup is an AI assistant, similar to ChatGPT, that runs entirely on a computer or server inside your own office instead of on another company’s cloud. Staff chat with it, search company documents through it and automate routine work, and none of that data leaves your network. Bit Microsystems designs, installs and maintains local AI systems for offices in Kathmandu and across Nepal.
What is included
Everything needed to make it work in practice
One team covers the full job, so there are no gaps between suppliers.
Needs and hardware assessment
We look at how many people will use it, for which tasks, and how sensitive the data is, then size the machine to that. If your existing hardware is enough, we say so.
Server or workstation build
We source, assemble and configure the machine: GPU, memory, storage and a UPS so a power cut does not interrupt anyone’s work.
Model selection and installation
We install open models such as Llama, Qwen, Gemma, Mistral or DeepSeek and benchmark them on your real tasks, including Nepali, before recommending one.
A chat interface staff already understand
A browser-based chat on your office network with individual logins, chat history, shared prompts and role-based access.
Your documents, connected
Policies, contracts, manuals and shared-drive files become searchable, and answers link back to the source document.
Security, backup and handover
Network isolation, access control, scheduled backups, written documentation and a hands-on training session for your team.
Where it is used
Who this helps, and how
Typical situations we design for in Kathmandu and across Nepal.
Law and accounting firms
Draft, summarize and review client documents without sending privileged or financial information to a third party.
Banks, cooperatives and finance companies
Give staff instant answers from internal policies and circulars while keeping all data in-country and on your premises.
Hospitals and clinics
Summarize reports, draft discharge notes and answer procedure questions with patient information staying inside the hospital network.
Offices with many daily users
One shared assistant for the whole team, instead of paying a separate monthly subscription for every person.
Compare
Local AI vs cloud AI
Neither is better in every case. Most offices we advise end up with a hybrid: local AI for anything confidential, a cloud model for everything else.
| Local AI (on your premises) | Cloud AI (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) | |
|---|---|---|
| Where your data goes | Stays on your own server and network. | Sent to the provider’s servers abroad. |
| Cost shape | One-time hardware and setup, then electricity and support. | Ongoing subscription per user, or pay per use. |
| Raw capability | Strong for everyday drafting, summarizing, translation and document Q&A. | Strongest available, especially for complex reasoning and long tasks. |
| Internet dependency | Works fully offline. | Needs a stable connection. |
| Maintenance | Needs someone to look after hardware and updates (we can do this). | Handled by the provider. |
| Best for | Sensitive data, many daily users, compliance requirements. | Small teams, occasional use, the hardest problems. |
How we work
From first conversation to a system your team uses
- 01
Assess
A short call or office visit to map tasks, users and data sensitivity. You get a clear written quote.
- 02
Build
We procure and assemble the hardware, install the models and interface, and test everything before it reaches your office.
- 03
Connect
We load your documents, create accounts and permissions, and tune the assistant for the work your team actually does.
- 04
Train and support
A staff session, a written guide, and optional monthly monitoring and model updates.
Is it right for you?
An honest fit check
We would rather tell you now than after you have paid for the wrong thing.
A good fit if
- You handle confidential client, patient, financial or citizen data.
- A regulator, client contract or internal policy requires data to stay in Nepal or on your premises.
- Many staff would use AI every day, so per-person subscriptions add up.
- Your internet is unreliable, or you work on a restricted network.
Probably not the right choice if
- You need the very strongest reasoning models for every task. The top cloud models are still ahead of what runs on an office server, and we will often recommend a hybrid.
- Only two or three people would use it occasionally. A cloud subscription is cheaper, and we will tell you that.

Questions
Frequently asked
Straight answers to what people ask us most about this service.
How much does a local AI setup cost in Nepal?
The cost has three parts: hardware, setup, and optional ongoing support. Hardware is the main variable and depends on how many people use the system at the same time and how large a model you need. A small team can start with a single GPU workstation; a larger office needs a dedicated server. We give a clear written quote after a short assessment, and we will tell you if a cloud subscription would be cheaper for your situation.
Is local AI as good as ChatGPT?
For everyday office work such as drafting, summarizing, translating and answering questions from your own documents, good open models on proper hardware are very capable. The largest cloud models are still stronger at hard reasoning and long, multi-step tasks. Many clients run both: local AI for anything confidential and a cloud model for the rest.
Does local AI work in Nepali?
Current open models can read and write Nepali in Devanagari and handle Romanized Nepali, but quality varies by model and is generally below their English. We test candidate models on your real documents and messages in Nepali before choosing one, and show you the results so you can judge for yourself.
What hardware do we need to run AI locally?
It depends on the number of simultaneous users and the model size. For a small team, a workstation with a modern NVIDIA GPU with 16 to 24 GB of video memory, or an Apple Silicon Mac with plenty of unified memory, is a sensible starting point. Larger teams need a server with more or bigger GPUs. We also recommend a UPS. We size the machine to your usage rather than selling the largest option.
Does a local AI need an internet connection?
No. Once installed, the model runs fully offline on your office network. Internet is only needed if you want remote access through a private VPN, or when applying updates.
Can staff use the office AI from home?
Yes. We set up a private VPN so approved staff can reach the assistant from outside the office. It is never exposed to the public internet.
Who maintains the system after installation?
Either we do, under a monthly support plan, or we train your own IT person and hand over full documentation. Open models improve quickly, so we recommend reviewing the installed model every few months.
