Where to start
Four common starting points
Most organizations recognize themselves in one of these. Pick the one that sounds like you.
A question we hear every week
Should our AI run in the cloud or in our office?
Neither is better in every case. Most offices we advise end up with a hybrid: local AI for anything confidential, a cloud model for everything else.
| Factor | Local AI (on your premises) | Cloud AI (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) |
|---|---|---|
| Where your data goes | Stays on your own server and network. | Sent to the provider’s servers abroad. |
| Cost shape | One-time hardware and setup, then electricity and support. | Ongoing subscription per user, or pay per use. |
| Raw capability | Strong for everyday drafting, summarizing, translation and document Q&A. | Strongest available, especially for complex reasoning and long tasks. |
| Internet dependency | Works fully offline. | Needs a stable connection. |
| Maintenance | Needs someone to look after hardware and updates (we can do this). | Handled by the provider. |
| Best for | Sensitive data, many daily users, compliance requirements. | Small teams, occasional use, the hardest problems. |
How an AI project runs
Small, proven steps. No big-bang launches.
AI projects fail when they start too large. Ours start with one task, measured on your real data, with a person checking the output.
- Human approval wherever money, customers or reputation are involved
- Private by default: only the data a feature needs is ever sent to a model
- Quality measured before launch and after every change
- Clear running costs, estimated before you commit
- 01
Assess
We map the work, the data and the risks, and agree what success means.
- 02
Pilot
One workflow or one team, on real data, with results you can see.
- 03
Roll out
Wider access, integrations, training and documentation.
- 04
Maintain
Monitoring, updates and improvements as models and your business change.

Questions
Frequently asked
The questions we are asked most often about AI in Nepal.
What AI services does Bit Microsystems offer?
Bit Microsystems offers AI services across six areas: private and on-premise AI (local AI setup, AI-ready office setup, AI servers), automation (AI agents, chatbots, voice AI, document AI), knowledge and data (company knowledge assistants, analytics, computer vision), custom AI development and integration, AI search optimization and marketing, and consulting, training, governance and ongoing support.
Can you set up AI that runs entirely inside our office?
Yes. We install a private AI assistant on a server or workstation in your office, connect it to your documents and train your staff. Nothing typed or uploaded leaves your network. This suits firms handling confidential client, patient or financial data.
Can AI automate a whole business process?
Often, yes. AI agents can read incoming messages and documents, update your systems, draft replies and follow up, with a person approving the steps that matter. We start with one well-defined workflow, prove it on real data, and expand from there.
Do your AI systems work in Nepali?
Yes, with honest limits. Current models read and write Nepali in Devanagari and handle Romanized Nepali. Quality is good for everyday messages and documents but below English, and weaker for speech. We test on your real content and show you the results before anything goes live.
How much do AI services cost in Nepal?
It depends on the service. Training and a usage policy are the least expensive. Chatbots and automations have a setup cost plus a monthly running cost that grows with usage. Local AI requires a one-time hardware purchase. We give a written estimate after a short assessment and tell you when a cheaper option would do.
We are a small business. Is AI worth it for us?
Usually, and often with very little spend. For a small team, a few well-chosen subscriptions and proper training deliver most of the benefit. We will say so if that is all you need.
Do you work with clients outside Kathmandu and outside Nepal?
Yes. We work on-site in Kathmandu and remotely across Nepal, and international clients contract with Bit Microsystems LLC in the United States while working with our engineering team in Kathmandu.
